A Fabulous First Year of Donations

Edwardian shop book
From 15 March 2013

One of our wonderful donations

We’ve received over 170 fantastic new donations to the archive collection since the M&S Company Archive opened to the public in March 2012.

While we regularly receive batches of brand new products and current information from departments across M&S, we rely on the public to help us to add original, vintage items to the collection. We really value the donations that we receive from members of the public, as it’s an invaluable way of filling ‘gaps’ in the archive collection and helping to ensure that we preserve as much M&S heritage for the future as possible.

What makes many of these donations even more special are the stories that often accompany them. It’s fascinating to know the story behind a specific garment, or to understand just how much an original St Michael toy meant to the child who first unwrapped it.

This exhibition features a selection of the wonderful donations that we’ve received in the last year – we hope that you enjoy them as much as we have.
